No, you do not need a referral.
We have a Board Certified Physician who is trained to help you determine if this is the right treatment for you. If a referral is needed for related medical conditions, our Physician will work with you to obtain this.

MeRT is a non-invasive, drug-free therapy with a very high safety profile. It uses gentle magnetic fields—not radiation or electricity—to stimulate brain activity. While some patients may experience a mild, temporary headaches. Please review our Click Here
Not at all; most patients describe the sensation as a light, rhythmic “tapping” on the scalp. You will remain fully awake and can relax, listen to music, or chat with your technician during the session. Because there is no anesthesia or downtime, you can drive yourself home and resume your day immediately. It is a comfortable experience designed to be stress-free for both children and adults.
We treat patients of all ages, including children with Autism or ADHD and adults struggling with PTSD, TBI, or Depression. If you are looking for a data-driven, non-drug approach to “retuning” your brain, you may be an excellent candidate. Please note that we do not treat pregnant patients or those with certain magnetic-sensitive implants at this time. We recommend a consultation to see if your unique brain patterns are a fit for this technology.
Your journey begins with a 1-to-2 week Assessment Phase to see how your brain responds to the initial stimulation. If we see positive changes, a full course of treatment typically lasts an additional 4 to 6 weeks. Daily sessions are quick, usually lasting about 30 to 45 minutes. We perform regular qEEG brain maps throughout the process to track your progress and adjust your plan.
Traditional TMS often uses a “one-size-fits-all” approach to treat depression, but MeRT is fully customized to your specific brain. We use a qEEG (brain map) to identify exactly where your brain waves are out of sync before we ever begin. This allows us to “tune” the magnetic pulses to your unique frequency rather than using a standard setting. It is a more calculated, personalized evolution of magnetic therapy.

Results vary by individual, but many patients experience long-lasting improvements that can persist for years. Think of MeRT as “exercise for the brain”—the longer the “training” (treatment), the more stable the new neural pathways become. While many find permanent relief, some patients choose to return for brief “booster” sessions once or twice a year to maintain their peak performance. We can monitor your progress with follow-up brain maps to help determine your long-term needs.
To get an accurate “map,” please arrive with clean, dry hair—avoiding gels, sprays, or makeup—and limit caffeine before your visit. We are a sensory-friendly clinic and understand that the 30–40 minute process for setup and recording can feel daunting for some. Our patient staff is trained to provide a calm, neurodiverse-supportive environment for both children and adults every step of the way. The process is completely painless, and we work at your pace with a gentle approach to ensure you feel comfortable and at ease.
Standard TMS uses the same frequency, same brain region, for most patients. If it didn’t work for you, the protocol may simply not have matched your brain.
MeRT starts with a qEEG to map how your brain is currently functioning. Your treatment is built from those findings — not a preset. Throughout care, our physician reviews repeat brain maps with you and this qEEG directs the next treatment.
Results vary by individual. We’d be glad to review your history at a consultation.

At Brain Treatment Center Flower Mound, our Board Certified Physician reviews your medical history and determines eligibility. Your qEEG brain map and personalized protocol is what guides treatment. All other clinical decisions, duration and adjustments to treatment are discussed with the patient throughout the treatment.
In many TMS settings, a technician administers a preset protocol with periodic physician oversight. For the conditions we treat—which include off-label applications such as PTSD, TBI, autism, ADHD, and depression—we believe physician-led, individualized care is the standard, not a premium.
We’re actively working on formal payment plan options and will update this page when they’re available.
